Technological advancement is not new to Medicine, but just as faster more comprehensive computational ability has transformed the business and financial worlds, it is transforming Medicine. Many of the benefits (just-in-time production) and pitfalls (inadequately controlled or nonsensical stock trading) apply almost directly to the problems of healthcare.
